Inner Temple Wedding Photography

The Inner Temple is one of the four Inns of Court , the ancient societies of lawyers in London. The Inns of Court hold the exclusive rights to call candidates to practise law at the Bar of England and Wales. This tranquil oasis in the heart of London was the perfect setting for Phillippa and Sam’s wedding.

Marriage service at Temple Church

The ceremony took place in the magnificent and historic Temple Church. It was built in the 12th century by the Knights Templar. I was able to get a great view looking down from the triforium as Philly and Sam walked down the aisle at the end of the ceremony.

After the marriage service I walked with the bride and groom to the nearby Blackfriars station for some photographs on the platform. The station has great significance for the couple, so it meant a lot to them to be able to get some photographs there on their wedding day.

Wedding reception at Inner Temple

A friendly London cabbie gave us a free lift back to the reception for a few more photographs around the beautiful backdrop of the Inner Temple. it was then time for a few family group photos, still leaving plenty of time for me to mingle with the guests as they enjoyed their reception drinks looking to capture as many natural moments as possible. One of my favourite shots from the day is of Dominic, the best man, all alone finishing off his speech at the last minute as all the guests filed in to the main hall for the wedding breakfast. I didn’t want him to notice me, so I brought the camera well back and composed the photo with a wide angle lens to show him alone in the room.

Soon after the wedding I received this note from Phillippa and Sam:

“The photos are gorgeous! Thank you for the preview. It just occurred to me that we were so busy enjoying the photos that we haven’t told you how much we like them. We were particularly impressed with the ones at Blackfriars – actually capturing some of London behind us.”
