January is usually a quiet time for me, after a busy December, but before the 'wedding season' really kicks off in the spring. It's normally a time for admin, DIY and sprucing up the website. However it was great to get out of the office for Alice and Dean's cosy winter wedding at Hampton Court House in Surrey - one of my favourite venues and perfect for a winter wedding with roaring log fires to keep everyone cosy and warm.
Alice got ready at the nearby Carlton Mitre Hotel overlooking Hampton Court Palace and was driven the short distance to the wedding by her father in his pride and joy, an immaculate bright orange MGB. After the ceremony bubbles replaced confetti on the steps before we went for a short wander for some photos of Alice and Dean together. The rain of the morning had thankfully cleared up so I was able to include the low winter sun backlighting the bride and groom in some of the photos which always makes me happy!
During the reception is when I get some of my favourite shots, I like to blend in with the guests to catch natural moments and expressions. It was great to be working with my assistant and second photographer Joan Jellett to ensure no moment was missed! The day continued with the wedding breakfast in the magnificent dining room, followed by some wonderful speeches - full of heartfelt emotion. The evening party started with bang and continued the same way, thanks to Mark of Mighty Fine Entertainment. This was such a great wedding to kick off the year - thanks to Alice and Dean for asking me to photograph it for them. If you love this venue, do take a look at another wedding at Hampton Court House, and if you are planning a wedding here or elsewhere in Surrey do get in touch.
"These are amazing - thank you so much! We watched the slideshow together on Friday evening and absolutely loved it, so many amazing memories and it really captures the feeling of the day. We're really, really pleased and very excited... We're knee-deep in Indian reception preparations at the moment so this was a fantastic time to look back and enjoy the day all over again! Many thanks,
Alice and Dean."
