Phoebe and James were married at St Peter & St Paul Church on the Brockhall estate in Northamptonshire. The spot is very special to the couple as James's mum lived in a cottage on the estate, and there is now a tree in the grounds planted in her memory.
May is a wonderful time of year and the grounds looked spectacular, the trees bursting with the lush vivid green that you only get in early summer. The marquee was from Be Upstanding Marquees and was decorated with flowers and photos of their parents' weddings - a lovely gesture. Sunshine was not much in evidence in the morning, but later in the day the clouds cleared and we were treated to some fiery evening sunlight, so we made the most of it with a whole load more photos!
James is a chef, and the couple met at work, so food is very important to them, but instead of the fine dining of James's daily work, they opted for a fantastic barbecue from Ironbridge Catering who cook prime cuts of free-range meat very slowly in a huge trailer-mounted smoker. It was delicious! The puddings and the cake were all baked by James - with last minute touches on the morning of the wedding.
This was such a relaxed and informal day - a great party for two people very much in love. I must thank my assistant and second-shooter Emmie Scott, but thanks most of all to Phoebe and James for having us along, it really was a pleasure to be part of your day.
From Phoebe and James:
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work capturing all the special moments of our wedding day. We really appreciate all the efforts you went to! We are also so grateful that you very kindly offered us a special rate which it made it possible for us to have our dream photographer. Please also pass on our thanks to Emmie, who was really lovely also and it was fantastic to have both of you there.
Thanks so much again for everything,
Phoebe and James
